INCLUSION 2.0
Policies, practices, and cultures of schools for everyone
Learning without barriers. Policies, cultures and practices for schools inclusion.
Schools change for many different reasons. In April 2014, at the University of Bergamo, we held the seminar aimed to begin a reflective process on a subject as complex as inclusiove education.
Since the presentation of the English edition of the New Index for inclusion, and the significant experiences implemented at national and international level, we have started a dialogue about how to reduce barriers to learning and participation for all pupils. We try to promote an inclusive process with respect to the three fundamental dimensions of school cultures, policies, practices.
The seminar hosted preentations by:
Tony Booth, University of Cambridge (United Kingdom)
Fabio Dovigo, University of Bergamo (Italy)
Birsen Ekinci, University of Marmara (Turkey)
Cem Güzel, Istanbul Technical University (Turkey)
Yolanda Muñoz MartÃnez, University of Alcalà (Spain)
Giuliana Sandrone, University of Bergamo (Italy)
Marina Santi, University of Padua (Italy)
In the afternoon session we held five theme-based workshops:
- How inclusive is my school? (A. Pietrocarlo)
- Including children and adults in early childhood environments (F. Gasparini)
- Steps toward inclusion through art and intercultural education (C. Favella)
- The green that includes: evaluating the Inquire method in schools (V. Rocco)
- Four handede inclusion: the vocational paths of disabled persons (E. Zappella)
The seminar was an opportunity to actively participate in inclusive experiences covering different research areas.
